Barbara Bain Admits Sixties Hierarchy Was Just One Big Giant Temperature Competition
The Mission Impossible star reveals she was legally obligated to stay at a crisp 40 degrees while Bardot handled the heat.

Look, we all knew the 1960s were basically just a high-stakes science experiment in climate control. Barbara Bain finally spilled the beans, admitting that while she was busy being the 'Cool Chick' in Hollywood, Brigitte Bardot was out there single-handedly causing global warming as the 'Hot Chick.' Apparently, there wasn't enough room in town for two different thermostats, so they had to split the duties like a glamorous HVAC system.
Barbara basically confirmed that she had to keep her composure at sub-zero levels just so Brigitte could walk into a room and melt everyone’s fondue sets. Can you imagine the pressure? One bead of sweat and Barbara would’ve been demoted to 'Lukewarm Lady,' which is a title reserved only for people who wear socks with sandals and enjoy unseasoned boiled potatoes.
While Brigitte was out there being a total fire hazard, Barbara was keeping things frosty. It’s hard work being the personification of a chilled martini when your peer is basically a human supernova. Honestly, we’re just glad they didn’t stand too close to each other, or the resulting steam would have fogged up every pair of oversized sunglasses on the planet.
